Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium at Deanshanger Primary School
At Deanshanger Primary School, Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background, have access to high-quality education, enrichment opportunities and the support they need to thrive. Our approach is rooted in evidence-informed practice and is carefully aligned with national guidance from the Department of Education and the Education Endowment Foundation.
We do not allocate funding through a ‘one size fits all' model. Instead, we identify individual and group barriers to learning and use the funding to strengthen teaching, provide targeted academic support and develop wider strategies that improve attendance, wellbeing and engagement. High-quality teaching remains the most effective way to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, so a significant proportion of our funding supports staff training, curriculum development and inclusive classroom practice.
Interventions and additional provision are carefully chosen, monitored and reviewed to ensure they have a measurable impact. Support staff work flexibly across classes to promote independence and ensure pupils develop the confidence and skills needed for long-term success.
We evaluate the impact of our Pupil Premium strategy throughout the year and publish an annual report outlining how funding has been spent and the difference it has made. Our goal is not simply to provide short-term support but to remove barriers, raise aspirations and ensure every child can reach their full potential.
