In Year 5, we strive to nurture curious, confident learners who enjoy a challenge and take pride in their progress. Children are encouraged to become more independent and resilient, developing the skills they need to think deeply, work collaboratively and believe in themselves.

Throughout the year, pupils explore a wide range of exciting topics. In Geography, they investigate why our oceans need protecting? We bring learning to life with a memorable visit to the Sea Life Centre. History lessons take children back in time as they explore the Tudors, Ancient Greeks and Vikings, developing their understanding of the past and how it shapes the world today. In Science, pupils explore Space and Forces through hands-on investigations and practical experiments.

Creativity is a key focus in Year 5. In Art, children study architecture, while Design and Technology lessons challenge them to design and make bridges and stuffed toys. PE lessons build teamwork and confidence through football, tag rugby, hockey, gymnastics and dance. Music plays a big role in the year, culminating in our vibrant Year 5 production, Music Through the Decades.

Alongside this, pupils develop valuable digital skills in Computing by coding and creating their own games, and deepen their understanding of the world through RE, studying Hinduism and Buddhism. Year 5 is a busy, inspiring and rewarding year full of memorable experiences and learning.
