Welcome back!

We hope you have had a wonderful Easter break! This term we have lots of exciting things to look forward including our class assemblies! Our topic this term is ‘A day in the life’, we will be continuing to develop our historical knowledge and understanding learning all about jobs in the past, Amelia Earhart and Mary Seacole! We will also have a look at how telephones have changed through time and how they work! In English, our texts will link closely to our IPC topic and we will be writing non-chronological reports to share our new knowledge!

This term in phonics we will have a strong focus on ensuring all the children are confident at reading their words using their phase 2,3,4 and 5 phonic knowledge! In addition to their ‘Little Wandle’ homework, children will also receive their ‘Phonics Screening Check’ practise words, which will continue a mixture of real and ‘made-up, words. When reading these words, we encourage the children to sound out the words and then blend them as this is to ensure accuracy. If you would like any further support regarding the phonics screening check, please do not hesitate to email Mrs Rice, Mrs Tapp or Miss Forward. Later, this term we will be hosting a workshop to explain this in more detail. The date for this meeting is Tuesday 7th May 2024.

In Maths the children will be introduced to multiplication and division, as well as fractions! Continuing to support your child to be able to count in 2s, 5s, and 10s will support them lots! A reminder that Library Day is a Wednesday, and Forest School is every Thursday, forward followed by PE with Ryan and Matt!

We look forward to another very exciting and very busy term!
