Join our Team

Midday Supervisors

We are recruiting two midday supervisors to join our team. Our grateful thanks extend to Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Atkinson as they continue in other roles in the school, but leave the MMS team. Thank you for being great team players and very positive multitaskers!

The actual start time for the shifts is dependent on the year group you are assigned to but would be between 11.30am - 12.00pm for 90 minutes on a daily basis in term time only (i.e., 7.5 hours a week). The role is to help set up the lunch hall, supervise and assist children during lunchtime, to ensure a safe and positive environment is maintained and that all children are supported to follow the school values and to help clean the hall ready for afternoon use.

If this is a role that you might be interested in, please make contact. An application form is attached below if you are keen to apply, but feel free to send through any questions that you might have about the role first.

Who we are looking for -

  • Have proven experience of supervising children
  • Be able to talk to children and adults in a clear and calm manner
  • Work as part of a group and on own initiative
  • Encourage high standards of pupil behaviour at all times
  • Initiate games and activities appropriate to the age of the children
  • Inspire trust and confidence in children
  • Ability to empathise with the needs of children
  • Stay calm under pressure, be positive and very friendly
As part of the recruitment process, there would be an enhanced DBS check.

We have a great midday team, working closely with our Fresh Start catering team, and you would be well supported if this is a role that sounds like a good fit for you and works from a timing point of view.

The closing date for applications is Friday 27th August with interviews expected on Tuesday 31st August. Where possible, the starting date would be Friday 3rd September, but we recognise that this might not be possible for some candidates and we will plan a workaround wherever possible.

Forest School Leader

Forest School is a very special part of our school curriculum and is something very important to us all here at Deanshanger Primary School.

Due to having to say goodbye to our incredible Forest School Leader, we now have this vacancy. If this is your passion too, we can offer you an incredible setting and children and staff that really value it. Sessions are held weekly for each year group, alternating for each class. The post is permanent for 16 hours a week.

This post is open to existing Forest School Leaders or those with experience leading outside learning. If this advert sounds just right for you but you would need training, please make contact too.

Visits to the school and our forest school are warmly encouraged.

We initially started the sessions when three members of staff, with a huge passion, completed the Forest School training in 2017. It has been a firm favourite since this time – they offer the children amazing opportunities to learn about their environment, allow them to take supported risks and give a more holistic approach to learning. We believe that it is very important to offer time, come rain or shine, to experience the outdoors, the seasonal changes, bird watching, pond dipping, bug catching, how the environment works, how to look after it and making masterpieces from it may encourage future wildlife experts and botanists. For some, just time away from the pressures of the indoor classroom can make a huge difference to their learning and ability to form relationships. It is recognised that outdoor learning is extremely important for a child’s all-round learning. Who wouldn’t enjoy using tools, lighting fires, building camps and a whole variety of hands-on exploratory activities?

School visit date - 31st August 2021

Closing date - 3rd September 2021

Potential interview date - 9th September 2021
