Dear Parents and Carers,

As we rapidly approach the final half term of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the wonderful things that have taken place this term, as well as let you know about the exciting events still to come. This is always a very busy time of year for both children and staff, so please make note of the important dates listed below

School Improvements

Over the Easter holiday, we were pleased to make further improvements to our learning environment. New flooring was laid throughout the shared areas in Reception, Year 1, and Year 3, bringing a brighter and fresher feel to those spaces. We are also looking forward to replacing the hall floor during the summer break, which will give this important area a much-needed lift.

A Busy Term of Learning and Enrichment

This term began with a fantastic trip for Year 3 to Didcot Railway. The children had a brilliant time and spent the rest of the week learning about a wide variety of animals kept as pets – including dogs, guinea pigs, snakes, and even spiders! A big thank you to all the families who supported this by bringing in animals for the children to see

We also introduced ‘Walk-In Mornings’ for each class this term. These provide a lovely opportunity for you to come into the classroom and work alongside your child first thing in the morning. Please check the calendar for your child’s class date.

Our class assemblies have continued and have been a real highlight. These give children the chance to perform in front of an audience and share what they’ve been learning. Thank you for your ongoing support and attendance at these events.

Year 6 SATs

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 children last week, as they completed their SATs with maturity and composure. They truly rose to the challenge and, to celebrate their hard work, we treated them to a well-deserved ice cream!

Prefects and Pupil Leaders

On Monday, we had a special assembly to announce our newly appointed prefects. Each of the ten successful candidates completed an application form explaining why they would be suitable for the role. Congratulations to all of them – I am very much looking forward to working with our new prefect team.

During the same assembly, we also announced our new Head Girl and Head Boy. Congratulations to Florence and Luke, who proudly received their new responsibilities.

Looking at Next Half Term

There is plenty to look forward to next half term:

• May Half-Term – Fundraising event for KS1. An optional challenge to raise £20.25 over the May half-term doing an activity of their choice – sponsored scoot/bike ride/selling cakes to family etc. Sponsorship forms and details will be sent home.

As we near the end of the school year, we will also be preparing the children for their transition to new classes. Once arrangements are finalised, we will share details of your child’s new teacher and their transition day. More information will follow in due course

It has been a hard-working and productive term for the children, and it’s been wonderful to see how much progress they’ve made. I would like to extend my thanks to all the staff for their unwavering commitment and determination to move the school forward – it’s inspiring to see the difference their efforts are making

Thank you, as always, for your continued support

Wishing you a wonderful break.

Best wishes
