Newsletters 2024-2025  no. 6   13/1/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back into school after the Christmas break. They have returned full of energy, ready to learn and it has been fantastic to see them settle back into their routines so quickly.

The staff started the term with a productive training day, preparing for the exciting term ahead. We were also delighted to have a group of 30 volunteers from Santander join us on this day to decorate the Reception, Year 1 and Year 3 shared areas. Their hard work has transformed these spaces, which now look fresh, bright and inviting. A huge thank you to Santander for their efforts and generosity!

We have many enriching and engaging activities planned for the children this term. Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming up:

Year 6 Trip to Cadbury’s World

Year 6 started the term with an exciting trip to Cadbury’s World. They learned about the history and origins of chocolate from its beginnings in Mayan and Aztec civilizations to its journey into Europe. They also explored the ethical considerations of cocoa production and the importance of sustainable farming. The children will use this inspiring experience to support their topic work and English writing this term.

Deanshanger’s Inventions Convention

On Thursday 16th January, we look forward to seeing the children’s creative inventions at the Deanshanger’s Invention Convention! This was a voluntary project open to all children over the Christmas break and it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas. All parents of children that have entered are invited to a viewing of all the creations at 3pm in the hall. We look forward to seeing you there.  The inventions will then be shared at a trust-wide event on Tuesday 23rd January.

Pantomime Fun

On Friday, 24th January, the PTA has organised a special treat for the children- a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk by M&M Productions. We are excited to join in the fun and enjoy the traditional audience participation that a pantomime brings!

Young Voices Concert

Year 5 children will take part in the Young Voices concert on Wednesday, 29th January. This is an amazing opportunity for them to perform alongside professional musicians, conductors and guest artists, including MC Grammar, Tommy Blaize and Souparnika Nair. If your child hasn’t signed up yet, there is still time – please contact the school office for more information.14 January 2025

  • Friday, 31st January: Year 4 Orca
  • Friday 14th February: Year 5 Octopus
  • Friday 28th February: Year 6 Sea Otters

Film Club

On Tuesday, 4th February, we will run a Film Club for children in Years 3-6. Look out for more details in the coming weeks!

Year 6 SATs Meeting

There will be a SATs information meeting for Year 6 parents on Wednesday 5th February, after school. This session will explain how the end-of-key-stage SATs will run during the week of 12th May 2025.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

The week of 10th February will see the launch of our Random Act of Kindness Week. This initiative encourages children, teachers, and the wider community to spread kindness through thoughtful actions, gestures and words. It’s a fantastic opportunity to foster positivity, empathy and a sense of connection that extends beyond the classroom.

Half-Term and Return Dates

This will take us up to the half-term break. The school will close on Friday, 14th February, and the children will return on Tuesday, 25th February.

Please refer to the school calendar on the school website for a reminder of dates of upcoming events.

Best wishes,
