Newsletters 2024-2025  no. 5   18/12/2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

With Christmas fast approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important updates and highlights before we break for the holidays. Thank you for your continued support throughout this busy term.

Staffing Updates

At the end of this term, we will bid farewell to Mrs. Parsonsons, our SENCo, who is moving onto a new role at another school. Mrs Parsonsons has been a huge part of the Deanshanger team and I know she has worked with many families throughout her time here. I would like to thank Mrs Parsonsons for all of her hard work and wish her well in her new role. Mrs Burnside, Old Stratford’s SENCo, will be on hand for advice until we find something more permanent. I will oversee the SEND provision in the meantime and keep you up to date with any developments going forward.

We are pleased to share that Mr Bunting, who has been working with Year 5 this term, has decided to stay on at Deanshanger. As an experienced KS2 teacher, he will move to Year 6 after Christmas, allowing Mr Pennington to focus more on his leadership responsibilities across the school.

We also welcome Miss Masters, our new Year 5 teacher, who will start in January. She is excited to meet the children and support their smooth transition to a new teacher. Miss Masters will be joining the class (Octopus) on Friday to get to know the children and ease any anxieties over the holiday period.

At the end of this term, we will say goodbye to Mrs Russell, who has been covering our Year 3 class while we recruited for the position. Mr Pennington and Miss Forward will share the responsibilities for Year 3 (Puffins) from January onwards. I would like to thank Mrs Russell for all her hard work during her time here and wish her the best for the future. Mr Pennington will spend some time with the children on Friday again to ease any anxieties over the holiday period.

Lastly, we’re excited to welcome Mrs Arthur, who has joined our team. She will be working across the school in Year 5 and Year 3 as a Teaching Assistant. Please join me in making her feel at home as you see her around the school.

Term Highlights

It’s been a busy term, and the children have shown great enthusiasm and hard work. They have completed their endof-term assessments and are now fully immersed in the festive activities planned by their teachers.

This week, our festivities included:

• Christmas Performances: Year 1 and 2 dazzled us with their Christmas Nativity, a spectacular start to the week. Year 3 and 4 followed with a beautiful concert filled with Christmas music and poetry. Then yesterday, Years 5 and 6 entertained with a special Sing-a-long Christmas Concert. Thank you to all the parents who attended and supported the children. Seeing their excitement as they spot you in the audience is heartwarming!

• PTA Events: The PTA has been incredibly busy, organising a Christmas Gift Shop where children selected special gifts for loved ones, and holding the Christmas raffle with fantastic prizes. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these successful events.

• Christmas Jumper Day: The school was full of festive cheer as children and staff supported their Christmas jumpers, spreading holiday magic throughout the week. We would like to invite the children to wear their Christmas jumper again on Friday, the last day of term.

Looking ahead to the rest of this week, we have even more exciting activities:

• Thursday/Friday - Reception Christmas Concerts. School will finish at 3.30 pm on Friday, and we’ll return on Tuesday 7th January.

Wrap Club

After a review of our operations and in alignment with legislation and safeguarding policies, it has come to our attention that we are not registered to take children who are not on our school roll. As a result, we regret to inform you that we are unable to continue offering Wrap Club services to children who are not enrolled as pupils at Deanshanger Primary. This will take affect from the 1 st January 2025. We understand that this may cause inconvenience and disruption to childcare arrangements, and we sincerely apologise for any challenges this decision may pose. However, ensuring that we operate within legal and safeguarding frameworks is our top priority, as it directly affects the well-being and safety of all children in our care.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas

As we head into the holiday season, I wanted to thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Your engagement makes a world of difference to the children and staff alike. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year.

Warm regards,

Miss Morris
