Newsletters 2023-2024  no. 17   19th April 2024

It has been an action-packed first week back. With new topics being launched, there have been strong 'entry points' to bring an exciting start to our new learning.

Thank you for your support with these special opportunities. Thank you for coming in to talk about your home country (Year 5) and if you brought in a pet or farm animal or enrich our understanding. While Year 2 have officially had the pet week, we have all benefited and can't thank you all enough.

With the sun finally starting to shine, and the children petting lambs and a pony on The Green, it was a pretty idyllic picture! It was also lovely to see the Year 6s enthusiastically sell their fruit sticks at the end of the week. We have a very special community - thank you.

If at all possible, we would love to see you at our planned family bingo evening next Friday evening - details below. It will be a lot of fun for the whole family and continue to help our very hard working PTA, provide lots of special resources to enrich school life.

Year Five's World Tour

Pet Week

Year Two has had an amazing week.  For our topic of 'live and let live', we have had some fantastic animal visitors in school.

They have ranged from rabbits, dogs, a snake, tortoise, Guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, chicks, lambs and a pony.  Children have learned how to care for these animals and about their food and their habitats. We have also had the opportunity to ask and answer questions and learn some new animal facts.  Thank you very much to everyone who was kind enough to share their pet with us this week.

Parent Action Group Updates

Following on from the Parent Action Group meeting held on the 31st January, I would like to gather your thoughts, opinions and ideas regarding the homework we provide and how we provide it. All feedback is welcome and, hopefully, will contribute to making this aspect of 'school-life' better for all those concerned.

Look out for a survey link on Monday 22nd April to share your thoughts.

Unfortunately, due to disappointing attendance, the Parent Action Group meeting held on the 20th March was cancelled.

The aims of the meeting, I believe, are key in strengthening the relationship between parents and school as I was intending to review the 'Home/School Agreement' - where we currently are with it, what it stands for and how we can further improve it.

Before I find an alternative date, I am keen to ascertain whether an alternative time works better for you and whether you would be interested in attending.

You are welcome to share your thoughts on this via email to deputy@deanshanger.northants.sch.uk

New resources

Big thanks to the PTA for recently funding our new work bench - this is currently being enjoyed in the Reception outdoor area.

Thank you so much to Bella and her family for providing a wonderful Easter holiday for Terry.

Would anyone like to take care of Terry over the May holiday?  Please send an email if you are interested.

We are delighted to be able to share further details of our Family Bingo Night! This evening promises to be a lot of fun.

Please help us spread the word to family, friends and neighbors.

Bookings should be made as soon as possible, so plans can be made accordingly.

We also have a dedicated family entertainment area, built especially for children in collaboration with Tootles & Nibs and Magic Star, with lots of activities, games and fun on offer.

Here is  the promo code SCHOOLS20 which gets you 20% off all General Admission tickets booked through FIXR.

Fruity Friday

Chefarone Fruit Bowl - Countertop Metal Fruit Basket - Black Fruit Bowls Vintage Style - Keeps Fruits and Veg Fresh - 26 x 26 x 12 cm (Black)

Due to popular demand, we have reinstated Fruity Fridays!

On the dates shown, the children are warmly encouraged to bring in a fruit item from home. The year group will do some creative thinking and turn the items into a healthy treat and they will be sold at the end of the school day to all families. The money raised goes directly to the year group to buy any 'nice to haves'  they have voted on.

Year 6 started the sales yesterday and sold every single one of their delicious fruit sticks! Thank you for your support.
