Newsletters 2023-2024  no. 9  21st December 2023

We have all been extremely proud of the children in their recent Christmas concerts - they performed with enthusiasm, energy, pride and talent. Thank you very much for joining us and providing lots of positive feedback.

What with a whole school trip to the panto, hosting a Christmas lunch for older members of the community, and enjoying our own delicious Christmas lunch yesterday, it has been a very special time of year.

The staff team at DPS are amazing and constantly go over and above to provide the very best for your children. I would like to thank them all for their hard work on a daily basis and most recently, for ensuring that the extra events such as the concerts and trips can go ahead.

Special thanks and best wishes to Miss Rosalba Nocito as she starts her maternity leave today. Thank you for giving so much to Year 1 in your time with us. We look forward to a joint teaching arrangement in January with myself in class in the mornings and Mrs. Tapp in the afternoons.

Behind the scenes, we are extremely well-supported by the PTA, the Grand Union Partnership and our own local governing body. Again, I would like to extend huge thanks to everyone for committing so much to our school and constantly being there for us. There is a huge amount to be grateful for.

We have all marvelled at a variety of headwear, jumpers, accessories and hairstyles over the last few days.  In case you'd like some inspiration for your own Christmas hairstyles, here's Eva's collection! They are incredible. I'm sure that Eva's mum will not miss getting up early to create these masterpieces now that school is closing for the holidays.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Shelley Farnen to our midday supervising team. Shelley is no stranger to the school as her children all attended here.

Thank you for joining the team and supporting our fun lunchtimes, Shelley.

Safeguarding

If you need urgent safeguarding support or advice over the Christmas break, please contact West Northamptonshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub.

Over this Christmas and new year period, there is an optional activity that you can consider with your child/ren in readiness for our Invention Convention on Tuesday 16th January. Working on their own, or as a family, the children are encouraged to consider a real-life problem and then invent something that solves it. The children are encouraged to record their ideas and plans and then, if at all possible, create a model to demonstrate the invention - it is not expected that the model will work. This year, if possible, we would like the inventions to half the environment in some way with a green / eco funtion.

The event on 16th January, is an opportunity for all children in the school to share their invention with the school in true Dragon's Den style! Tables will be set up around the hall for the children to showcase their models on. They should be ready to talk about their invention, why they made it and how it works.

If your child is showcasing their invention on 16th January, you are welcome to come along from 2.30pm to see the inventions.

The week after our internal Invention Convention, we will be hosting a Grand Union Partnership one here @DPS for some of the contestants from our school and the other schools in the partnership.
