Newsletters 2022-23  8th July 2023

Thank you very much for joining us this week for our two sports days. Whilst Tuesdays one was a little damp, it didn’t spoil the fun in any way and the children shone brightly with their sporting skills. Congratulations to the red team for getting the most points and having the opportunity to lift the cup proudly the end of the morning.

In the KS2 event, we again saw more great sporting spirit and talent as well as a plethora of eager volunteers - former DPS students and students and staff from EWS! Thank you so much.

Again, at the end of the morning when all the points had been counted, the red team lifted the cup!

Huge thanks to Mr Paragreen for comparing both events, to Mr Peel and Mr Taylor for the planning, the whole DPS team for keeping it running so smoothly and to you all for cheering the children on so wholeheartedly and joining in the adults races! It was even more impressive that we didn't have any injuries as you raced along the track!

The KS1 gallery is already on the school website. The KS2 one will be there next week.

Many thanks to Julie Atkinson and Jim Waddington for joining us on Wednesday and telling us all about the Summer Reading Challenge. The theme this year is sport and they used this theme brilliantly to motivate us all.

We will talk with the children in class how they can access details about their account, books they've read and word totals. Book suggestions are also now given. There are also articles that you can read and take AR quizzes on. If you have any queries, please email your child's class teacher.

Safeguarding

Keeping children safe is everyone’s role. If you see something that doesn’t seem quite right with you at any time, please always pass it on. Thank you to the various families that have supported safeguarding in the last few weeks.

To ensure that children across the school, know how to keep themselves safe and how to get support if needed, we have been engaging with the NSPCC school materials.

This week the NSPCC team joined us and led sessions in Y4, 5 and 6.

Feedback from the NSPCC team was very positive - they said that our children knew a huge amount already and could share lots of valuable information.

PE kit and ties

Please be reminded that children in Y3,4,5 and 6 in September 2023, will come to school in their regular uniforms every day (from September) and change for PE in school.

For children in Reception, Y1 and Y2, they can wear PE clothes for the whole of a PE day and will not be changing in school.

For the current Y5s - ties are available for sale from the school office for £5.

Thank you very much to the very talented drummers for showcasing their amazing talents on Thursday – it was very inspiring!

We will be sharing the videos shortly.
