Sunflower Award
at Deanshanger Primary School

In memory of Mrs Annette Robson

Annette was a very special lady and a highly valued member of staff. She is sorely missed at Deanshanger Primary School.

As the sunflower was her favourite flower, we had created a termly Sunflower Award to recognise and celebrate children that show the attributes that she showed daily - kindness, caring, positivity, strength and loyalty.

Reception Award - George

George is such a thoughtful, kind and polite young man.  He always tries his very best and always takes time to listen to his peers.  He always has a cheery smile and says kind words to the adults and peers around him.

Year 1 Award - Georgia

Georgia has been an absolute delight throughout her time in Year 1. She has achieved 100% attendance through her desire to succeed and learn. Without a doubt she comes into school every day with her beautiful, caring smile and gives it her all. She is incredibly thoughtful and sensitive to those around her and is always supporting her friends. I am so proud to have Georgia in my class, and she really is an absolute credit to the school and her family. Her attitude towards her learning is second to none, and she has achieved beyond our expectations this year always focusing and ensuring a 100% effort. We are all truly lucky to share our time at Deanshanger with her!

Year 3 Award- Gharib

I have chosen Gharib for the sunflower award as he reminds me so much of all the qualities that Mrs Robson stood for and demonstrated.  Gharib always completes homework and any additional tasks assigned to him as well as undertaking additional learning just because he enjoys challenging himself so much. Gharib is also a sensible and mature boy who can always be relied upon to carry out additional tasks and support adults across the school, running errands or undertaking extra jobs with them. As you can see, Gharib not only reflects the characteristics and qualities of Mrs Robson but also demonstrates consistently the school values.  It is for these reasons that Gharib deserves the sunflower award.

Year 4 Award - Cooper

This person has been chosen for the sunflower award because they always have an ‘I can attitude.’ This person goes the extra mile with his learning. He has worked incredibly hard this year and is always aiming to meet the challenges we set for him in his work. He can always be seen in class focused on his work and he never gives up.

This person not only works incredibly hard each day but is always willing to help with class or school jobs. He works well with anyone in the year group and adapts games he is playing to include everyone. If someone he sees is upset he always wants to help them and makes sure they are OK. The recipient of the sunflower award for year 4 is Cooper Fellowes.

Year 5 Award- Euan

Euan is a fantastic ambassador for the school. He works extremely hard and attempts every challenge that comes his way with a smile on his face and a cheery ‘can-do’ attitude. Euan is always eager to participate in whole school activities and has represented the school on many occasions. His kind and caring nature, makes him a popular member of the year group and his infectious sunny manner is a joy to be around.

Year 6 Award- Benjamin

Benjamin Peel is our Sunflower Award recipient in Year 6. Benjamin is extremely caring. He looks after everybody in our year group. This includes the adults! He also looks after the younger children in school. He is kind and sensitive to the needs of us all even when we are feeling down.

Benjamin is responsible and makes an excellent contribution to our school community. He is self-less and will put the needs of others before himself. He does not moan.

Benjamin has an excellent sense of humour. He makes us laugh!

Benjamin makes sure he shares everything. For example, he is good at passing the football. He includes everyone in games and encourages us to do our best.

Benjamin tries hard with all his school work.

He demonstrates many of the values Mrs Robson showed and embodied.

We are very, very proud of him! He is an excellent role model!
