Deanshanger Primary School (@DeanshangerS) | Twitter

There is no doubt that it has been a very challenging term but throughout this, everyone has demonstrated incredible hard work, resilience, and kindness.  Keeping everything going as well as possible is a big team effort. We have continued to have visits from the Local Authority and these have all been incredibly positive.

My grateful thanks extend to the children for always showing us an enthusiastic love of learning - they have taken every change in their stride and have become such an adaptable group!

The staff team have been nothing short of amazing! Every single one of them has gone to extraordinary lengths, and often behind the scenes, to keep school life running. Absence and illness has been very high and has meant more plate spinning than normal!

Thank you to our SLT ( Mrs. Webb - Deputy, Miss Forward and Miss Peers) our midday supervisors, librarian, SENCo, music teacher, Forest School team, cleaners, site supervisor, Fresh Start team, Business Manager, Admin team, teachers, LSAs, HLTAs, 1:1s, Learning Mentor, volunteers... I could write at length about each one of them! You so deserve a relaxing break!

As parents and carers, you have been so supportive and understanding.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Big thanks to the PTA

Thank you for your support and kindness across the year and most recently, the generous gifts to each class for Christmas. Each box included party snacks, games, DVDs, and individual stationery gifts!!! Thank you

Our thanks and best wishes extend to Mr. Rowantree as he moves to a new school in January. Thank you for everything you have brought to our school and Snowy Owls this term.

We are delighted to introduce Mrs Hannah Bailey to the DPS staff team - she will be teaching Snowy Owls for the duration of the year.  She brings a wealth of teaching experience to our team and a huge amount of enthusiasm. Welcome aboard, Hannah!

As a member of the school's governing body, Hannah will be pausing her governor role as she steps back into the familiar role of class teacher.

We are pleased to be able to launch our first Sunflower Award newsletter - a very special new award in memory of Mrs Annette Robson.

We will be keeping a very close eye on Covid guidance for schools over the break and ensuring that it is implemented, as necessary, in January.

This term we have had the following precautionary measures in place -

  • No close inside contact across year groups – the children are only together outside
  • No inside PE
  • Constant ventilation in all rooms and the hall. We have CO2 monitors in each year group
  • Reminders about handwashing, coughing and sneezing
  • Sanitising stations throughout the school
  • Staff wearing masks outside their areas
  • Meetings and assemblies on Zoom
  • Limiting outside visitors to the school
  • External lettings (inside) on hold

With positive Covid cases rising across the country, it is likely that guidance we request staggered starts and finishes again, so please keep this in mind.

Full information will be shared with you as we return for staff training days on January 4th and 5th.

The Christmas Shop has been hugely popular this year!  I hope that you like the items that your children have selected for you (and the ones they have bought for themselves too!).

With the money raised, we are donating £150 to St.Mark's Meals and using the rest to buy mental health and wellbeing-type resources; the children are helping us with the shopping list.

Fresh Start Updates

Fresh Start Catering would like to advise you that menus for next term are now ready to book. Please note the deadline for booking a meal for your child will be Thursday 30th December 2021 at 12 midday for meals required for the first week back to school from w/c 3rd January 2022. We would also like to advise you of a Winnie the Pooh, themed day on Thursday 20th January which we hope you will join in the fun.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Fresh Start team for serving a delicious Christmas dinner to approximately 280 of us on Wednesday!

Chair of Governor Updates

St Begh's Catholic Junior School - Governors

I would like to use Mr Aaronson's 'normal' spot in the newsletter to say a huge thank you to all of our governing body for their invaluable time, support and professionalism this term. The team has continued to play a very active role in school life, even with the restrictions.

Many thanks to David Aaronson (Chair), Peter Nickoll (Vice-Chair), Hannah Bailey, Vincent La-jux, Daniel Peel, Andy Limbert, Mani Janakiraman and Helen Gibson    (clerk).

Please remember, if you would like to contact Mr. David Aaronson at any time, his email address is ChairofGovernors@deanshanger.northants.sch.uk

Competition time!

We would like you to design a character that represents each of our school values. The character that is chosen will be printed on large posters for the school hall and used on our website.

The character could be of something that represents Deanshanger Primary School, perhaps part of the school logo? The character should then show our values in different ways. Look at the examples below for ideas;

Our school values are; respectful, resilient, ethical, thinker, communicator, collaborator, adaptable and empathetic. Please see the school website for more information about each value.

This is an optional competition but if you would like to take part please send your designs in to the office by Friday 14th January.

Happy designing and drawing!

We have recently reviewed the safeguarding section on the school website and added on some very informative articles regarding online safety. With the holidays upon us and a possible increase in the use of technology, it might be worth having a read.

BNTO - Be Nice to Others

It has been lovely seeing the commitment of the BNTO team this term. They have had many wonderful ideas and worked hard to ensure that everyone has someone to play with at lunchtimes by promoting our friendship benches and zones.

We will be continuing this next term however due to the news around Covid we may be taking these sessions online when everyone is at home from school. When we know more after Christmas we will send out more information about this.

Thank you for all of your hard work this term, and we hope to see you back in the new year!

Have a great Christmas
