Deanshanger Primary School - Newsletter - 7-02-2020

Welcome to another busy week @ DPS

Firstly, welcome to our first new-look newsletter!

Building on parental feedback, we hope that this format will be easier to read and will allow you the flexibility to read articles that interest you whilst skipping over others.  As it is built on our school website, it allows us to link items easier and avoiding, wherever possible, human error in transferring dates etc. As always, your feedback is very much appreciated. Let us know what you think and suggestions for other items that would be useful for you.

It has been a very busy week in school with a year 2 trip to Milton Keynes Museum, a Year 6 African dance and mask-making workshop, a visit from NMPAT to lead a whole school assembly (Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust) and lots of 'regular' learning and fun!

The concert was a special opportunity to be inspired and entertained. Thank you to the NMPAT musicians.

Thank you so much for supporting our fundraising for WWF Australia and Red Cross Australia. We have been able to send a total of £214 which will split between the two.

In response to our letters, we received a thank you letter from Sir David Attenborough yesterday!

If you haven't popped into school in the last couple of weeks, try to enjoy the children's amazing work in the school admin area. They have written beautiful, very empathetic letters and accompanied these with stunning artwork.

Governors update from Mr David Aaronson, Chair of Governors

Email: Chairof Governors@deanshanger.northants.sch.uk

Good day to everyone, this Governor Section is a brief record of activities that have taken place recently.

I met with the Business Manager to go over the Central Records we have to keep as part of our Governance Review and Safeguarding responsibilities. I was impressed with the professionalism and diligence with which the extremely important area is addressed and records kept up to date.

I have met with the Head to talk over various ongoing issues re safeguarding and school development.

We continue to ensure that governors are kept up to date on school life and how they can be active participants in its growth and onward journey.

Lead Governors in subject areas will be looking to arrange meetings with their staff counterparts to discuss ongoing progress, data and future plans.

Please continue to send in your empty Tassimo pods and crisp packets so that they can be recycled and raise funds for Willen Hospice. We also collect used stamps for RNIB and have a clothes bank for Air Ambulance.

Since several children are severely allergic to nuts, our school is a nut free zone. This includes peanut butter sandwiches. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Open-door communication is really important to us. We can't explain, tweak or change things if we don't know about them. Please always make contact with the class teacher in the first instance if it involves something that has happened in class (all of the email addresses are in the home/school diary) and make contact openly with myself if it is regarding a different suggestion or issue.

Many thanks,

Rachel Rice  head@deanshanger.northants-ecl.gov.uk

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
