Christmas Leaflet 2020

Deanshanger Primary School

Christmas 2020

It might need to look a little different this year, but we'll be making sure that it is as special and memorable as always

What to expect

The School’s tradition of hanging class designed Christmas hoops in the hall will go ahead – we’ll share lots of photographs with you

Within year group bubbles, there will be short Christmas ‘performances’ – these will be sent to you in video form to enjoy again and again.

Christmas/winter jumpers or festive coloured tops can be worn on the Friday 11th, Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th December with the bottom half of our regular school uniform. Please don't go and buy new ones if your child hasn't got one already.

Watch out for a special musical video from Mr Larcombe and our awesome outside choir!

On Thursday 17th December (the last day of term), there will be a 'T'was the night before Christmas' day, where everyone is invited to come into school in their PJ's/onesies/leisure wear for a Christmas movie day.

In a slight change to the home/school diaries, Fresh Start Christmas lunches will be served to all year groups on Wednesday 16th December.

Look out for the booking form coming soon

The school will be putting up a Christmas tree outside, as always, and decorating it on Monday 30th November. Year group bubbles will be given a time slot to help decorate the tree using items that were donated last year – they can also bring in a small decoration for the tree if they’d like on this day -  homemade is great.

Deanshanger Advent

Please help bAdvent Wreath & Candles - The Meaning, History and Traditionring some festive joy to our wonderful village by suitably decorating a window in your home that is visible from the path or road.

The window will need to be lit so that it can be seen at night, by the 24th December the village will hopefully have a lovely display that encourages the residents to sample the joys of our village in a COVID safe manner.

Children can bring in Christmas cards for their friends if they would like. These must be in by 11th December. They will be quarantined in class boxes and then sorted and sent home on the last day of term. Please make sure that they say the child’s full name and class on the front of the envelope.

We are going to start a new craze in the village - Rainbow Christmas stars. This will be an activity to unite us, and give a nod to the NHS rainbow theme, by displaying a rainbow-decorated star in the windows of homes around the village. We can all wish upon a star together as a sign of hope for a good year ahead.

Whilst it is always heart-warming to receive cards and gifts at Christmas, we are very aware that many of our families are experiencing very hard times. We would like to support those that need a little extra this year and will be inviting you to donate items for a Towcester Food Bank Christmas appeal. We will be putting a table out daily from  7th – 11th December if you would like to give. Basic toiletry items – soap, shampoo, shower gel, toilet rolls and sanitary items, are always very well received.

If you are going through challenging times, please make contact with us so that we are able to help wherever we can.

Finally...watch out for a special surprise coming from the PTA

Unrelated to Christmas – there will be a Spelling Bee in school on Monday 14th at 1.30pm December using Zoom. Parents/Carers with children in the event will be invited to attend.

If you have any questions about any of the above information and indeed any aspect of school life at any time, please make contact.

Very best wishes,

Rachel Rice
