Foundation Stage

We are delighted to welcome you and your family to Deanshanger Primary School and we are looking forward to sharing an exciting first year at school with your children.

The first few weeks of school are very special, but we appreciate that it may also be an anxious time. The first few days may be a little unsettling for your child (and for you!), this is a big development step in your child’s life, but we will do all we can to support you and your child in having a positive and smooth start to their school life.

Over the first ½ term we will be settling the children into the daily routines of school and getting to know them. We will support them to make new friends and ensure that they feel happy, safe and secure in the Foundation Stage setting. Please look out for e-mail notifications from ‘Tapestry’ through which we will share some of your child’s learning experiences and give you an insight into our day. We would like to encourage you to upload your own photos and videos to your child’s Tapestry journal and would like to thank those of you who have already shared adventures from your summer holidays. If you are unfamiliar with Tapestry, or have problems accessing it, please pop in to see us or attend the ‘Reading Meeting’ for parents Monday 18th September at 2.30pm or 7.00 pm. Please note that individual reading books will not be sent home with your child until after this meeting.

We really want to hear when things are going well, or ideas for improvements, so please come in and talk to any member of the Foundation Stage Team if you have any suggestions or feedback. We are also contactable by email. Our email addresses are detailed below.

Your child will be coming home with a Home School Diary tomorrow. This is full of useful information and will act as a communication tool between yourselves and school. These will be checked daily by a member of the team.

For your reference, the following activities will be timetabled:

Madagascar Class

Forest School - Monday

Outdoor PE - Tuesday

Indoor PE - Wednesday

Library - Thursday

England Class

Forest School - Friday

Outdoor PE - Tuesday

Indoor PE - Wednesday

Library - Thursday

The children will be eased into these activities gradually over the next few weeks, so please ensure all the relevant kit, labelled with your child's name, comes into school by the end of this week.

Don't forget to order your child's lunches by Tuesday 5th September, for the following week, if you haven't already done so. Please contact support@freshstartcatering.uk if you are having difficulty logging in or registering your meal choice.
